Shooting in Aldi Parking Lot in Estepona Leaves One Wounded
Armed confrontation between occupants of two vehicles injures an unrelated customer
On the afternoon of Sunday, July 20, an exchange of gunfire between two cars in the parking lot of the Aldi supermarket in Atalaya wounded a person with a stray bullet, according to the National Police and reports by Diario Sur and El Español.
An armed dispute erupted around 6:30 p.m. in the Aldi parking lot on Avenida Matas Verdes, in the Atalaya Isdabe area of Estepona. Witnesses told Diario Sur that shots were fired from both vehicles, scattering shell casings across the pavement (Source: Diario Sur).
National Police officers quickly cordoned off the scene and secured multiple spent cartridges. A supermarket customer, who had no involvement in the altercation, was struck by a stray bullet while seeking cover inside the store. “The victim had nothing to do with the dispute,” a police spokesperson confirmed to El Español, adding that “their life is not believed to be in danger” (Source: El Español).
The Provincial Police Headquarters in Málaga has opened an investigation to identify and locate those responsible. Agents are reviewing security camera footage and interviewing employees and customers who witnessed the incident.

This shooting has heightened security concerns in one of Estepona’s busiest commercial areas. The temporary closure of the parking lot disrupted traffic flow and alarmed both residents and visitors to the supermarket.
Recent months have seen several firearm-related incidents along the Costa del Sol, though most were concentrated in Marbella and San Pedro de Alcántara. Estepona, traditionally quieter in such matters, now adds this episode to its record of public safety challenges.
The National Police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to contact the Málaga Provincial Headquarters or call 091. Estepona Info will provide updates as new details emerge.
