Lekune Pintxos arrives in Estepona with a grand opening
The popular pintxos restaurant is opening its new location on Calle Real in Estepona, offering an authentic Basque cuisine experience
Estepona welcomes Lekune Pintxos, a restaurant bringing the authentic essence of Basque pintxos, after 15 years of success in Marbella. Its inauguration, held this Thursday on the emblematic Calle Real, was a unique event for the enjoyment of the Estepona public, who were able to enjoy a unique gastronomic experience with free food and drinks. In a chat shared on social media, Antonio, the manager of Lekune Pintxos Estepona, shared the keys to this new establishment that has become a benchmark of Basque gastronomy on the Costa del Sol.
Lekune Pintxos: A Taste of the Basque Country on the Costa del Sol
Lekune Pintxos restaurant is known for its tradition of offering Basque-style pintxos, but with an innovative twist that has allowed it to stand out in the area. At the recent opening of its new location in Estepona, Antonio, its manager, shared his vision and the process that led Lekune to open its doors in this coastal city.
"The name Lekune comes from Basque, and its meaning is 'a good place'. That's why in our advertising we say it's a good place for pintxos, because it really is," Antonio explained. In addition, the restaurant nods to the Basque tradition, using an inverted "u" in its name to highlight the importance of the quintessential Basque pintxo: the "hilda".
Lekune Pintxos is not only a place to enjoy delicious food, but also a space to experience Basque culture and tradition. At the opening, attendees were able to sample a variety of pintxos for free, including Basque, Andalusian, Catalan options, and even some exclusive creations, such as the "más rocky", a proposal that did not leave diners indifferent.

A Restaurant for All Tastes
During his conversation with Área Costa del Sol, Antonio emphasized that, although the restaurant's gastronomic offerings are mostly Basque, there's room for other flavors as well. "Here you can eat everything from a Spanish omelet to pinchos that are very special to the Basques. The key is variety and quality," he noted.
One of the most striking aspects of Lekune is the way they serve the pinchos. At a rate of approximately 2 to 3 minutes between each one, the restaurant offers more than 60 different types of pinchos, including fish, meat, and even wheat-based options. The waiters circulate among the tables with a wide selection of pinchos, and if someone likes one, they simply take it.

The Essence of Estepona and the Connection to Marbella
Although Lekune was already a well-known name in Marbella, Antonio emphasized the importance of having made the move to Estepona. "Estepona is a wonderful city. I know it well, I've worked here for quite some time and I've seen how it has grown. It's a beautiful city, and if there was one place we had to move to from Marbella, that place was Estepona," he commented.
With 15 years of experience in Marbella, Lekune has established itself as a benchmark of Basque gastronomy. However, the opening of its new location in Estepona has been an important step in getting even closer to pincho lovers on the Costa del Sol. "The good thing is that they already know us in Marbella, although here, obviously, not so much. But there are many people who told us that they came to Marbella to eat at Lekune, so they will be happy to have it here in Estepona," Antonio added.
Affordable Prices and an Exceptional Wine Selection
One of Lekune's attractions is its commitment to accessibility. The pinchos have very affordable prices, ranging between 2 and 3 euros, which makes it an ideal place to enjoy a delicious meal without breaking the bank. In addition, the restaurant offers a promotion called the "happy pincho," which consists of offering any pincho for 80 cents from 4 p.m. onwards, allowing diners to enjoy three pinchos for only 5 euros.
Although its wine list is not extensive, Antonio emphasized that quality is the most important thing. "We have extraordinary wines at very low prices, such as Ramón Bilbao, which is well known and appreciated by people," he commented.
Quality Ingredients and Basque Essence
Authenticity is a key element in Lekune's proposal. The carefully selected ingredients come directly from the Basque Country and Navarra. "The cod arrives from the Basque Country every week, in containers. The chistorra comes from Navarra, also in containers. Everything is pure Basque essence and is exquisite," Antonio stated.
This commitment to the quality of the ingredients is one of the aspects that Lekune's customers highlight the most, who can enjoy a gastronomic experience true to its Basque roots, but with a modern and accessible touch.
Lekune Pintxos arrives in Estepona to offer a unique gastronomic experience, where Basque pinchos and the culinary tradition of the Basque Country are the main protagonists. With affordable prices, a varied offer and quality products, this new establishment is emerging as one of the most visited places on the Costa del Sol. At its inauguration, attendees enjoyed a sample of Lekune's gastronomy, and from now on, Estepona will have a new gastronomic reference for lovers of pinchos and good food.
Without a doubt, Lekune Pintxos has arrived to stay, and the residents of Estepona and the surrounding areas will be able to add this restaurant to their selection of must-visit places on every outing, thus enjoying its Basque essence in the heart of the city.
