Estepona Renovates Plaza Colón with €470,000 Investment
Works include new paving, street furniture and infrastructure improvements over four months
Estepona Town Hall has begun the comprehensive renovation of Plaza Cristóbal Colón, a project that will transform this public space with new paving, street furniture and upgraded infrastructure, with a budget of €468,952 and a four-month completion timeline..
Work Covering 1,841 Square Meters
The intervention will be carried out over a total surface area of 1,841 square meters in the area bordered by Cristóbal Colón and María de Maeztu streets. This square currently shows clear signs of deterioration, which has motivated a comprehensive renovation that will replace both the paving and existing urban elements and furniture.
Complete Infrastructure Renewal
The project includes the replacement of sewage networks and the renewal of existing connections, as determined by a prior study of the infrastructure’s condition. Additionally, new rainwater connections will be made and additional drainage grates will be installed to improve rainwater collection. The replacement of water supply networks and their corresponding connections is also planned.
New Green Spaces and Ornamental Features
The square will feature new functional and ornamental elements, including green areas, a fountain and drinking fountain. This redesign aims to create a more spacious, accessible and pleasant space for all users, especially for Fundación Aprona, an organization that provides support to people with functional diversity in the municipality and which has its headquarters in this square.
Comprehensive Improvements Throughout the Municipality
This project is part of the comprehensive improvement plan that the Council has been developing both in the old town and in the various neighborhoods of Estepona. The municipal objective is to continue improving the quality of public space and urban infrastructure throughout the city.
