A Multicultural Gathering for Everyone
Foreign Resident Day has become one of Estepona’s most eagerly awaited events. This Saturday, El Calvario Park will be transformed into a vibrant showcase of the diverse cultures that call Estepona home. More than 25 stands will represent countries from around the world, offering the best of their food, crafts, and traditions.
Countries participating include Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Nordic countries, the United Kingdom, Romania, Ukraine, Morocco, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, as well as new additions this year: Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Ecuador, and France. Additionally, Spain will have its own stand featuring the best of Spanish cuisine and traditional dance performances from local groups.
International Food and Crafts
One of the main attractions of the event is its culinary offerings. Attendees will have the chance to sample typical dishes from various countries, such as Mexican cochinita pibil, Swedish meatballs, Colombian arepas, Chilean cumbia, Venezuelan salsa, and Celtic music from Ireland, among others.
In addition to food, there will be a wide range of craft stalls, where visitors can purchase unique and traditional products from each country. From jewelry and textiles to decorations and handmade items, each stand will offer a glimpse into the cultural richness that Estepona embraces.
Music and Dance for All Tastes
Throughout the day, the event will feature a cultural program with live music and dance performances. Attendees can enjoy more than 12 performances, representing various regions of the world, as well as traditional Spanish dance from the local community. From flamenco rhythms from the Centro de Danza La Milana to Chilean cumbia by Luis Arellano, and Paraguayan and Argentine dance groups, the Foreign Resident Day will be a lively celebration of global sounds and colors.
Recognition of the Foreign Resident of the Year
As part of the event, the Estepona Town Hall will present the 'Foreign Resident of the Year' award. This year, the award will go to Johnny Cuellar from Bolivia, Carlos Stieffel from Argentina, and Teresa Rocío Mateos Torras from Mexico, in recognition of their outstanding contributions and long-term involvement in the foreign community of Estepona. These three residents have been key organizers of events like the 'Foreign Resident Day' and 'Dulce Encuentro Navideño'.
A Program for Integration and Participation
In addition to Foreign Resident Day, the Estepona Town Hall will introduce the "Sharing Cultures" program, a new initiative aimed at promoting the integration of international residents into the cultural life of the town.
