Estepona commemorates the Day against Gender Violence
The City Council reaffirms its commitment against this social scourge by assisting 111 women victims of gender violence and holding a protest event at 12:30 p.m. in Antonia Guerrero square
Estepona Town Hall commemorates today the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women with an institutional event at Plaza Antonia Guerrero at 12:30 pm. The municipality pays tribute to the victims of this social scourge by expressing its rejection, showing solidarity, and reaffirming the commitment of municipal support and counseling services, as stated by councillor attached to the Women’s department, Julia Simón.
Municipal Assistance Figures
The Municipal Women’s Centre currently provides assistance to a total of 111 women victims of gender violence through the specific Comprehensive Care Department. Of these cases attended since January, 59 are new, while the municipality continues to work on the psychological treatment of 52 victims from previous years.
The majority profile corresponds to women between 40 and 49 years old, who represent 33.33% of the total with 37 cases. 42% of the victims assisted have an active restraining order against their aggressors. There are currently 17 telecare phones registered, with 8 new devices activated this year, totaling 23 active terminals in 2025.
Institutional Event and Student Competition
Today’s official event includes speeches by authorities, reading of a manifesto, and a minute of silence in memory of the victims. During the event, awards will be presented for the XVII November 25th Poster Competition, created by Secondary school students from Estepona’s high schools, an initiative that seeks to raise awareness among young people about this issue.

Comprehensive Care Services
The Municipal Women’s Information Centre has carried out 1,403 consultations so far this year, offering counseling on abuse, financial aid, psychological support, relationship crises, and employment. 54% of consultations are related to psychological help, 32% to equality matters, and 15% require legal counseling.
The centre provides direct care without prior appointment in cases of gender violence, referring each case to specialized departments or other relevant agencies according to the initial assessment. Among the most frequent reasons for consultation are economic and employment issues, training, situations of abuse, and inquiries about Active Insertion Income.
The Municipal Women’s Information Centre is located at Avenida Juan Carlos I, 40, with office hours Monday to Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. Women can contact them by phone at 952 80 47 04 / 952 80 90 00 (Ext. 1499), without prior appointment in cases of gender violence.
