Estepona CD secured a crucial 1-2 win against Linares Deportivo at the Linarejos stadium in the 27th round of the Segunda RFEF. Despite trailing by a goal at halftime due to a strike from Hugo Díaz, the Malaga side mounted a comeback in the second half, with Eric scoring a brace that sealed the three points.
The match began with Linares Deportivo taking control, and they went ahead just before halftime thanks to a goal from Hugo Díaz. The Cordoban striker took advantage of an opportunity in the 45th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead, leaving Estepona with little time to respond before the break. However, the goal didn’t break the spirit of the Malaga team, who came out strong in the second half.
In the 50th minute, Estepona managed to level the score when Eric, who had already shown his threat in the first half, netted the equalizer. But the comeback didn’t stop there. Just ten minutes later, the Malaga forward scored again, turning the game around and putting Estepona 1-2 ahead. His brace proved to be decisive, and the visitors took all three points.
Despite Linares Deportivo’s attempts to equalize, they couldn’t capitalize on their chances. In the 80th minute, Isra García came close to scoring the equalizer, but his shot went wide. The added time, which lasted seven minutes, kept the tension high, with Linares desperately searching for a goal. However, Hugo Díaz’s last-second efforts weren’t enough to change the scoreline.
The match also ended with a small scuffle, during which referee Valero Bárrales sent off Linares' players Carlos Cura and José Luis Rodríguez "Pinki," as well as the team's field delegate, following an incident with the visiting bench.
