On September 3, the Estepona Book Fair will host the book signing for Los días encontrados, an anthology of short stories and poems aimed at raising funds for suicide prevention. Writer and coordinator Yohana Anaya Ruiz will be present, and all proceeds from the author's rights will be donated to the NGO AERAFAM, dedicated to helping women and preventing suicide in the province of Málaga.
Estepona will be the meeting place for writers and readers next September 3, when the Estepona Book Fair hosts the signing of Los días encontrados, an emotional anthology of stories and poems that brings together 18 writers and 17 illustrators. The work, published by Ediciones Azimut, has as its main goal raising funds for suicide prevention, with the proceeds from the authors' rights going to the AERAFAM association.
Among the authors taking part in the book are names such as Marina Medina, Susana Teruel Benítez, Rocío Martín, Mery Ryde, Víctor Frías, Naiara Gavira, Alejandro Siles Rodríguez, Jarbe, Rafael Las Heras and Cristina García Aragón. The texts that make up this anthology tackle diverse themes, but all share a profound reflection on life, suffering and the importance of solidarity. Among the highlighted themes are love between two elderly people, friendship, the overcrowding of big cities and memories.
AERAFAM, the organization that will receive the funds generated by the book's sales, works to provide support for women and prevent suicide in the Málaga region. In its introduction, the association describes the serious social problem that still exists around suicide, emphasizing that the main cause of this tragedy is suffering.
The book has been extremely well received since its launch on May 8. In just two days, the first print run sold out, which reflects readers' interest in supporting such an important cause. Currently, "Los días encontrados" can be purchased at various bookstores, on Amazon, or through the publisher's website.
The writer and Language and Literature teacher Yohana Anaya Ruiz has been the coordinator of the book. Yohana Anaya Ruiz (1994) was born in Estepona, Málaga. She published her first novel at just eighteen years old, The Last Tear (Bohodón Ediciones) and currently already has seven published books. The last two, Caged Birds and The Women of the Isthmus were published with the University of Málaga and the proceeds from the copyright royalties were also donated to two associations, ACOES and The Little School of Chame.
