The Estepona and La Duquesa sports marinas, managed by the Mediterranean Marinas Group, are expecting an average occupancy of 85% in Estepona and 80% in La Duquesa for the summer season. This summer, the Estepona and La Duquesa sports marinas, two of the main nautical hubs on the Costa del Sol, are experiencing a notable increase in activity. According to the Customer Service departments of both marinas, the expected average occupancy will reach 85% in Estepona and 80% in La Duquesa. The figures point to a very active summer season, with daily traffic of between 2 and 12 transiting vessels, mainly consisting of sailboats, catamarans, and motorboats.
The majority of the marina visitors come from Spain and the UK, followed by France and Belgium. This diversity confirms the importance of Estepona and La Duquesa as key destinations on the southern European nautical routes, both for mooring and as stops on international journeys.
Manuel Raigón, Manager of Mediterranean Marinas, highlighted that “the international profile of visitors confirms the appeal of these marinas, not only as a base for mooring but also as strategic stops along their routes.” Raigón also mentioned that the high-quality services and prime locations of both marinas are key factors attracting these visitors.
The duration of stays varies between 2 and 5 days, depending on whether the stop is for technical or tourist purposes. In terms of service demand, the marinas are preparing for the increased activity. In Estepona, the customer service and marina teams will be expanded, while in La Duquesa, the marina and water maintenance services will be reinforced.

The high occupancy and constant flow of vessels strengthen Estepona’s image as a top nautical destination, positively impacting the local tourism and business sectors. The proximity of Estepona's Sports Marina to tourist attractions like the beaches, Orchidarium, and the Carmen Viewpoint, as well as its cultural offerings, enhance the visitor experience and boost the local economy.
On the other hand, La Duquesa Sports Marina, in the municipality of Manilva, remains a key point for both tourism and the local economy. Its proximity to the Duquesa Castle, natural routes, and wine-growing areas increases its appeal, while the wide range of commercial and social activities promotes the area’s dynamism.
With the summer season in full swing, the Estepona and La Duquesa sports marinas continue to establish themselves as leading destinations for recreational boating on the Costa del Sol. The strengthening of services and the attractive tourism offerings ensure an outstanding experience for sailors, while benefiting the local economy.
