The internationally renowned artist presents 17 portraits of iconic figures without faces at the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center.
Estepona kicked off the 2nd FLEST Literary Festival last Friday with the exhibition "Faceless" by renowned artist Coco Dávez. The showcase, featuring 17 portraits of prominent figures, will be open to the public until September 15th at the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center.
Estepona begins today, June 29, the 2nd Literary Festival (FLEST) with an exhibition by celebrated illustrator Coco Dávez, known for her unique style that omits faces in her portraits. The "Faceless" exhibit features 17 works that capture the essence of iconic figures such as Pablo Picasso, David Bowie, and Chiquito de la Calzada. The official opening will take place at 8:00 PM, with notable figures such as designer Palomo Spain, art dealer Topacio Fresh, and singer Soleá Morente in attendance.
Estepona's mayor, José María García Urbano, visited the exhibition and praised Dávez's work, emphasizing her ability to transcend borders with her distinctive artistic approach. According to the mayor, the second edition of the festival highlights the city's significant cultural growth, not only through new infrastructure but also through high-quality events such as this one.
The "Faceless" exhibition, located outdoors on Terraza Street, is one of the festival's main attractions. The works were created specifically for this event and will be available for public viewing until September 15. Estepona joins cities like London and Hong Kong, which have also hosted this project.
Coco Dávez, born Valeria Palmeiro in Madrid, has made her mark in painting, photography, and art direction. Her colorful style has led to collaborations with renowned brands such as Shiseido, Netflix, and Dior. Her works have been exhibited in cities like Paris, Miami, and Santiago de Chile, and Forbes magazine has featured her as one of the leading figures in contemporary art.
The Literary Festival FLEST is a highly important cultural event for Estepona, establishing itself as a key fixture in the Costa del Sol's cultural landscape. In addition to Coco Dávez's exhibition, the day's program includes notable activities such as book signings and talks with leading authors.
FLEST started last year with great success, establishing itself as a platform that promotes both literature and art. This year's edition has been expanded to include more activities and international artists.
Estepona's mayor, José María García Urbano, emphasized during his visit that the event reflects the city's cultural growth. "Estepona has made significant strides in the cultural field, and this festival demonstrates that," he said.
The "Faceless" exhibition by Coco Dávez marks the beginning of a festival that will run until June 29, offering activities for all tastes. The program promises more book signings, panel discussions, and concerts.
Once again, Estepona becomes the cultural epicenter of the Costa del Sol.
