The García Fajer Foundation joins the “Estepona Vive sus Calles” program with a concert by the quartet “Con Brío”
The recital will take place this Sunday, October 12, in Plaza Manilva, as part of Estepona’s autumn cultural program
The García Fajer Foundation and the Estepona Town Hall will offer a free concert this Sunday, October 12, at 1:00 p.m. in Plaza Manilva, performed by the string quartet “Con Brío.” The event is part of the autumn edition of the “Estepona Vive sus Calles” cultural program, which will fill the town with music, art, and performances throughout the weekend.
The “Con Brío” quartet, made up of Mayte Abargues (flute), Pavel Penev (violin), Yana Kucherova (viola), and Mario Castelló (cello), will perform a chamber music program featuring works by Mozart, Dohnányi, and Dvořák.
The concert is organized within the ongoing collaboration between the García Fajer Foundation and the Estepona Town Hall, established in 2018, which aims to bring classical music and artistic excellence closer to the community. This event will be the third concert of the year presented by the foundation in Estepona, coinciding with its 20th anniversary.
“Our intention is to keep the chamber-music tradition alive by bringing it to the streets and squares of Estepona, where people can enjoy it in a close, familiar atmosphere,” the organizers said.
The García Fajer Foundation: Two decades of commitment to music
Founded in 2005, the García Fajer Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Its mission is to preserve the legacy of 18th-century Spanish composer Francisco Javier García Fajer and to promote musical excellence through the creation of International Centers of Excellence in String Performance (CIEC).
Since 2014, the foundation has been active in Estepona, offering training programs and artistic initiatives such as the Proyecto Alba, which provides inclusive music education for people with different abilities, in collaboration with Aprona and the Hermandad de Los Remedios.
With additional locations in Logroño, Madrid and Estepona, the foundation has trained more than 350 young string musicians from around the world, many of whom now perform in leading international orchestras.
